FAQ Avenire RESIST Food
What are the advantages of using "RESIST Food" Kits? +
It's fast, cost-effective, and easy to use and implement.
What technology are "RESIST Food" Kits based on? +
They are based on isothermal amplification technology.
Which pathogens can "RESIST Food" Kits detect? +
Each "RESIST Food" Kit can detect 1 specific pathogen. Currently, our portfolio consists of 3 detection Kits for L. monocytogenes, Salmonella enterica, and S. aureus.
How does the "RESIST Food" Kit work? +
The Kit operates in two stages, genetic material extraction and amplification, allowing the detection of a DNA segment characteristic of the target microorganism.
How long does it take to obtain results using this product? +
It takes 45 nominal minutes to analyze a sample and obtain the result.
Is the result obtained qualitative or quantitative? +
The result obtained with "RESIST Food" is qualitative, indicating the presence or absence of the analyzed pathogen.
What equipment is required to use "RESIST Food" Kits? +
- Set of micropipettes
- Thermoblock
- Thermostatic bath
- Transilluminator
Do I need any additional equipment to use this bacteria detection product? +
No, apart from the equipment mentioned above, which is typically found in quality control laboratories.
What is the product's shelf life from the manufacturing date? +
18 months.
What type of professional is required to operate the technology? +
Aquaculture technician, food technician, food engineer, biologist, biochemist, or related fields.
What type of professional is required to operate the technology? +
Aquaculture technician, food technician, food engineer, biologist, biochemist, or related fields.
On which foods does "RESIST Food" work? +
To date, we have addressed most of the products in the food industry. If you require more detailed information, please contact our technical team at help@avenire.com.
What is the storage temperature? +
The storage temperature is -18 to -24 °C.
How long do samples need to be enriched before analysis? +
They need to be enriched for 18 to 24 hours, depending on the Kit.
Which enrichment media are compatible with "RESIST Food"? +
Listeria monocytogenes: Half Fraser, Fraser, Enrichment broth for Listeria (base) according to FDA/IDF-FIL.
Salmonella enterica: Buffered peptone water (BWP).
Under what quality standards is the product manufactured? +
Under ISO 9001 standard.
Can the Kit detect dead cells? +
Yes, the kit can detect dead cells. All molecular detection Kits that rely on the amplification of specific DNA sequences can detect dead cells. For this reason, molecular techniques are always associated with an enrichment process to ensure the detection of viable cells.
When is a result considered invalid? +
A result is considered invalid when the following conditions are met: the positive control reaction does not fluoresce, as observed in Fig 1, and/or the Blink negative control (nuclease-free water) fluoresces with the same intensity as the positive control.
What is the Limit of Detection (LOD) for the Kits? +
The Limit of Detection for the Kits is 740 CFU/ml.
